Abstract: The Patriotic War… This was the name given to the war which began in 1914. There was another name – The Great European War, later in 1918 it was called a World War and in 1941 it was termed World War One. World War One lasted 1,568 days and nights taking in 3 continents. Approximately 38 countries participated with a collected population of 1.5 billion people. Losses were horrendously great – some 10 million killed and those who died from their battle injuries, 20 million wounded. Even at the present time we find traces in forests of the extended 400-kilometre front line that had cut through Belarus in 1915-1917. For many years people preferred not to write about the losses nor take note of traces on land. At times those traces were obliterated. Yet there were people who did not remain indifferent and fearlessly reminded us of the happenings during that past war, rekindling our memories of heroes who were so terribly unpopular in the USSR from that war. In this article one will find and read chosen materials of events from that war which took place on Belarusian territory.
