Conference “Belarusian nation through the eyes of the diaspora and compatriots”, November 12, 2022

Abstract. On November 12, 2022, the conference “Belarusian nation through the eyes of the diaspora and compatriots” was held. The conference was organized by the Belarusian Institute of Arts and Science (Canada) and the web-magazine “Culture. Nation” and took place in a virtual format. It was timed to the 55th anniversary of the Institute and the 10th anniversary of the Magazine. In two sections of the conference and during the round table, issues of national consciousness, history and culture of Belarusians at home and abroad in the modern period were discussed. Researchers from six countries spoke at the conference, 15 reports were included in the program. The materials of the conference are published in this issue of the magazine. During the discussion at the round table, recommendations were developed, which were decided to be sent to the national leader – Svjatlana Tsikhanouskaja. In particular: to honest and real Belarusians – to continue working in Belarusian affairs – each in his own place; considers it necessary to perform the national anthem at all solemn events – “We will march out in strong ranks”; direct efforts to strengthen contacts between children from abroad and children at homeland; to organize societies for expanding the use and knowledge of the native language (TBM) in Belarusian communities; etc.
