Meeting of the Belarusian diaspora with Svjatlana Tsikhanouskaja in Ottawa. “Lord Elgin” hotel, November 22, 2022

Abstract. S.Tsikhanouskaja and her associates were in the capital of Canada on an official visit from November 20 to 23, 2022. In addition to the meeting with I. Survilla and official meetings in the parliament and with the Prime Minister of Canada, S. Tsikhanouskaja met with Belarusians from Ottawa, Toronto, and Montreal. The meeting was organized by members of the Association of Belarusians of Canada (ZBK) and the Belarusian Institute of Arts and Science (BINIM, Canada). The meeting took place in the “Lord Elgin” hotel, which was attended by more than 100 people. Piotra Murzionak – Doctor of medicine, the chairman of BINIM, Canada, and editor of the magazine “Kultura. Nation” – spoke on behalf of the Belarusian community (a short speech is attached). He presented the National Leader with the cycle of poems “Revolution of Hope 2020” dedicated to Svjatlana, Maryja, and Veranika, as well as his new book “Belarus: Prospects of a Middle Power”. Guests also spoke at the meeting: Barys Gengalo, chairman of the Ottawa branch of the Canadian-Ukrainian Congress and Andris Kesteris, chairman of the Canadian-Latvian Association. S. Tsikhanouskaya answered some questions. Afterwards, a warm meeting, which lasted about three hours, took place in an informal atmosphere – pictures, autographs, gifts. Images by A.
