Abstract. The dynamics of factors that positively influence or can influence the level of national consciousness of Belarusians in the 21st century is analyzed. In particular, an attempt is made to understand what has happened to the Belarusian population and its elite over the past two or so decades, and how the external conditions for the Belarusian state are changing, which, as in earlier periods in the 20th century, were to a large extent decisive for the changes in the fate of the Belarusian nation. An analysis of possible optimal ways that would lead to the desired changes – the change of authoritarian power and the establishment of a democratic and free national state – is being carried out. We are aware that the processes affecting the national consciousness have an objective nature and may even accelerate after the end of the inter-civilizational war between Ukraine and Russia – between the Western Ruthenian (Belarusian-Ukrainian) and Eurasian civilizations.
