Abstract: In this article the author reviews the research work, academic and public activities of one of the most outstanding persons within Belarusian diaspora in North America in the 20th and 21st centuries – the work and life of historian, publicist and public activist, Yanka Zaprudnik, who recently has entered eternity (1926 – 2022). Having experienced the difficult fate of being banished from his homeland, Yanka Zaprudnik devoted his life to the study of Belarusian culture. As editor at Belarusian Service of Radio Liberty he laboured to share ideas of freedom and independence for Belarus with the people of his homeland which was enslaved by Communism. Yanka Zaprudnik was engaged professionally in historical research, took an active role in various Belarusian organizations and published a whole series of Belarusian periodicals. He wrote and had published some dozen books and wrote more than 500 public articles and a myriad of radio scripts. He lived an honourable, productive life filled with many activities which serves as an example for future generations of Belarusians.
